| Swimming Classes Because the Albany Pool is still undergoing construction, Albany Adult School is continuing to offer the same swim classes at Kennedy Swim Center. Please see the information below. Location Kennedy Swim Center, next to Kennedy High School 4300 Cutting Blvd. (cross street South 45th - map) Richmond, CA 94804 Phone 510.620.6654 Registration Please make sure registrations, questions, and concerns are made with the Albany Adult School. Do not register at the Kennedy Swim Center except if noted below. There are 3 methods of registration for these swim classes:

Aquatic Back CareInstructor Bio (Online registration: class is in the Personal Health/Body Conditioning category) An aquatic exercise class designed specifically for people with back pain. Work on your overall strength, endurance and posture in a fun and dynamic class. Come join us as we stretch and strengthen all the muscles that support the back in both the shallow and deep water using a variety of pool equipment. (Ten weeks starting Sep 14)
Arthritis Aquatic Class Instructor Bio (Online registration: class is in the Personal Health/Body Conditioning category) Come join a gentle, aquatic fitness class for the adult who suffers from Arthritis and other related physical disorders. The exercises are designed to increase joint range of motion, flexibility, muscle strength and endurance. Join the class and reduce your pain and fatigue while having fun! A low impact class. Body Conditioning Have fun and feel better! *Physical Conditioning with Weights Instructor Bio/Class Details (Online registration: class is in the Personal Health/Body Conditioning category) This class meets in the high school fitness and weight room. Nautilus and Olympic bars are available. Individualized instruction focuses on your needs. (Ten weeks starting Sep 8)
*Ballroom Dancing Instructor Bio (Online registration: class is in the Personal Health/Body Conditioning category) Welcome to Fall! Level One We have the big four of Foxtrot/Waltz/rumba/Cha-cha, plus the American Tango. Level Two You will enjoy continued study in the Mambo, the Rumba, and-for the first time, the Quickstep. Remember, Level two requires previous completion of a Level One course or instructor permission to enroll. We look forward to seeing you all! (Ten classes starting Sep 15)
Beginning Line Dance (Online registration: class is in the Personal Health/Body Conditioning category) Dance away stress, improve your balance and get weight-bearing exercise! Mostly country music with a few others thrown in. Learn steps including cha-cha, waltz and swing. No partner needed. Wear smooth-soled shoes, comfortable clothing. $2 material fee to instructor. *Introduction to the Alexander Technique (Online registration: class is in the Personal Health/Physical Fitness category) The Alexander Technique solves body problems intelligently. It enables you to prevent habits of misuse that cause tension, fatigue, and pain. It can be applied to all activities, including computer use, performance, exercise, driving, and gardening. Class includes written materials and an individual "mini-lesson." (One class Sep 25)
*Mind/Body Explorations "Gentle Yoga" (Online registration: class is in the Personal Health/Physical Fitness category) In this class, chi gong is combined with gentle yoga and some practice work in cultivating positive emotions. Chi gong is meditation in motion and is a wonderful aid to digestion and balance. You also experience all the benefits of yoga strengthening, flexibility, improved bone density, balance, improved immunity, glandular toning, proper breathing, deep relaxation and a variety of meditation techniques. Some poses can be done in a chair. The corpse pose, deep relaxation & meditation techniques provide the unique opportunity to observe how the physical body responds/reacts to the variety of your thoughts & feelings. Become adept at noticing what your thoughts & what feelings are attached to those thoughts. Highly effective methods are taught that serve to shift stressful thoughts/feelings into those that promote health & well-being. Your feelings hold key information that allows you to pinpoint whenever you stray from the pure positive energy that is your true nature. With practice, it's easy to turn a negative thought/feeling into a better (not necessarily a best) thought/feeling, thereby enabling a visceral experience of relief. Practicing the Power of Affirmative Feeling by learning to engender, deepen and expand positive emotion helps you create an easy, joyous, serendipitous, healthy, abundant life of grace and well-being. Tai Chi Chuan for Health (Online registration: class is in the Physical Fitness/Personal Health category) Controlled, gentle and slow circular movements reduce stress, improve circulation and promote flexibility of joints. Energy is controlled so student doesn't strain muscles, over-activate the heart or exert oneself excessively. (Ten classes starting week of Sep 13)
