Richard Kalman is noted for dynamic scat singing and upbeat interpretations of swing and bebop standards. He has a BA in Jazz Studies and is a veteran of both the Oakland Jazz Choir and Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. He has studied with nationally renown jazz singers Mark Murphy, Madeline Eastman, Faye Carol and others. He has taught vocal jazz for ten years and has appeared at Yoshi's, Kimball's East, and several jazz festivals. He currently leads a vocal jazz group appearing in local nightclubs.

Class Description: Beginning Vocal Jazz Workshop
This workshop is for the curious beginner to the budding jazz singer. Solo and choral jazz repertoire is introduced in a range of singing styles. Ability to read music is not required. Great for pop and Broadway singers! Group singing lifts your spirits, improves your appreciation of music and self-confidence in performance skills. These classes bring out your best singing qualities!
